Can I sue if I’m injured due to unsafe premises at work?

Return to FAQ Videos

Transcript:

I received a lot of calls and I have handled many cases from individuals who are at work and because some defect in the premises, they’re horribly injured. Of course in New York State, we have a law that says you can’t sue your own employer. However, what we find many times if we’re given the opportunity to investigate is that the employer didn’t own the premises, that there is another party who’s responsible for the maintenance and actually controls the premises, and I’ve been successful in many instances where I was able to uncover that, even though at first blush we thought there was no case because the person was hurt at their job, so that’s important to check out.
