Transcript:

What are the most important things that you should do if you are unfortunately involved in an accident. First thing you want to do if you’re able is to identify who the driver is and who the owner is of the vehicle. The next thing would be to contact your own insurance company as soon as possible, because in New York State, your medical benefits and lost wage benefits are covered under your own vehicle’s policy, that’s the New York State No-Fault Law, so you want to make sure your company is advised that you were in an accident. The next thing you want to do is make sure you or anyone in your vehicle gets the medical care that they need, that requires going to the hospital, contacting your own physician, your own general practitioner, letting them know that you were in the accident and going get checked out because many times what happens is you may feel pretty good initially, and then the next day you’re feeling terrible and you want to make sure you follow up with that doctor to make sure you’re getting the medical care treatment that you need.
